Biodata of Vania de Gila-Kochanowski

Civil Status:

Born 6th August 1920 in Krakow, Poland from Balto-Slavic Romane Chave parents: Father: Commander in Allied Armies, Alexeev and Frundze clans (gostra). Smolensk defender where he died on the battlefield.

Mother: Gila and Stanga clans.

 Naturalisation (becoming French) by decree 17th April 1959 (O.J.19.04.59).

 Author writes indifferently under the name de Gila (maternal clan) or christian official name Kochanowski.

Military activities: 11 March 1943 deportation by Germans: refused to enter in SS unities: forced work near Leningrad (USSR); escaped, recaptured and sent in the disciplinary and extermination camps: Aluksne, Valmiera, Salaspils (Latvia) and 7th Fort, Kowno extermination camp (Lithuania).

27 July 1944 with 110 Latvians in Beauregard camp (France).

17 August 1944 escaped and joined French and American partisans (North of Paris).

24 August 1944 engaged voluntarily in Polish army for training in Bessières barracks, hoping to continue the fight against the Germans, decoration of British Army.

September 1961- January 1967: scientific and socio-politic activities in India within the framework of the french-indian cultural exchanges ( 4 years of which chargeable to yhe indian government).

26 January 1964: Participation to Declaration of Hindi as National language, Curzon Club (New Delhi).

1967-1969 : fight for the Romane Chave integration in France. Abolition of the discriminatory laws thanks to the plans he registered to the parliamentary and government authorities.

25 septembre 1969 : registration to the Sorbonne to get the State Doctorar "The Romani and its internationalisation".

1967-1984: Permanent fight for the integration of Romane Chave: Projects, conferences, creation of "Romano Yekhipe France", etc.

1983-1984: Nomination by the executive of Romani Union as plenipotentiary representative of the World Romani Organisation at UNESCO, Paris.

1988: President of Romano Yekhipe France. Member of National French Council of Regional Languages and Cultures (decree 25 April 1988, O.J. 26 April 1988).
